Natalie Mae, a new original
British performing artist, is a powerful, interpretive vocal treasure
and smart songwriting talent to watch.
Born in North London, UK on October 21, 1985 to musical parents,
she has studied at the London School of Contemporary Music and with
Tona De Brett (who has worked with the likes of Seal and Mary J
Blige). Inspired by artists like Stevie Wonder and Nina Simone,
whether performing her own original songs or insightful renditions
of other artists work Natalie possesses a stunning unique sound.
Constantly writing, recording, performing in studio or on stage,
Natalie has honed her unique talent as a singer and songwriter from
a young age. “I’m kind of a regular person who really
loves singing more than all the technical stuff, I feel it’s
a good way to release tension, I've been singing all my life. I
grew up listening to jazz, blues, soul, reggae, as I remember and
some hippy stuff, and in my teenage years the more modern soul,
r'n'b, hip hop. I can never choose which type of music I would like
to do, so as we do, we just mix everything together.” |

Natalie writes from the heart and performs from the hip, in the
spirit of jazz n’ blues singers who’ve passed this way
before like Billy Holiday and contemporary fusion soul vocalists
like Erykah Badu. Natalie creates sumptuously textured songs combined
with a profound, emotive storytelling style. She writes about her
own experiences, and listeners are always struck by the empathy
in her lyrics and tone. Concern about the state of the world surfaces
in her lyrics, as Natalie has a wisdom which infuses her performance
and writing style. She says, “I don’t expect people
to agree with all the things I have to say, but that’s life.
Most my tunes are quite light hearted, something to sing along to,
to make you feel better.”
Currently working on her debut CD, Natalie Mae is
available for club, concert and studio performances.
